2Corinthians10:4-5 Update

Saturday, after almost five months of neglect, I updated the 2Corinthians10:4-5 section of the left sidebar. This time, in addition to posting links under the appropriate categories, I posted all of the new links at the top under the clever heading of Newly Added Links. That way, I don't have to mark them "new" individually and then go back and unmark them when they are no longer new, and readers don't have to sort through the old to find the new. Such efficiency should go a long way in our constant fight against global warming, don't you think?

I also deleted a couple of dead links. Thanks to those who reported them to me.

I am also open to link submissions if anyone comes across something appropriate. If they meet my requirements, I will use them. Believe it or not, I try not to link articles that are unnecessarily critical of their subjects. "Just the facts, Ma'am," as Joe Friday would say. I avoid the hysterical "The sky is falling and I've got my finger in the hole in the dyke and the church is depending on me to put this fire out so WAKE UP AND SMELL THE BRIMSTONE"* type of stuff that usually goes by the name of "discernment ministry." 2Corinthians10:4-5 is a good passage, but so is Matthew16:18. "...I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." There is no cause for panic, only sobriety and diligence. I also avoid those who make gratuitous use of terms like "cult" and "lie from the pit of Hell." Every false religion or movement is not a cult. Throwing inflamatory words around indiscriminately only cheapens them for legitimate use and weakens the writer's argument by making him sound like a crackpot.

In other news, someone found this site by Googling "humorous nazarite vow." That John the Baptizer - what a joker! And Samson - well, I guess he did bring the house down.

4. Truth matters. Some truth matters more than other truth, but all truth is important. No error is benign.

5. Honest people may disagree, but no more than one of them can be right about any one proposition in a given context. When there is disagreement, someone, maybe everyone, is wrong.

6. True is true and false is false; right is right and wrong is wrong. Unless you are talking about clothing sizes, don’t give me any of that “this is what’s right for me” skubalon.

7. On babies and bathwater: I don’t need to give my respect to men of dubious character or qualification “because they make a valuable contribution to the conversation.” I can throw out their baby with their bathwater because that same baby can be found in cleaner water elsewhere.

8. You are all entitled to disagree with me. However, you must be willing to say I am wrong, not simply that we see these things differently.
