| The Thirsty Theologian 2.0 (almost) |
I've been working, little by little, on the new layout that I promised "soon" some time ago. Amateur that I am, I need to launch the home page to get a better idea of what I'm up to. So, if you're still out there, hang on. There may be some bumps ahead, and some features will be incomplete and others non-functioning. Firefox and Safari users will have the least trouble. Older versions of Internet Explorer will (I think) work better than IE 7.0. The trouble spots will be the nifty drop-down menus that I am just learning. At least I hope those are the only trouble spots. We'll see.
Addendum: You can help! Just tell me which of these fonts you are seeing in the header. Thank you very much.

what are you using for your blogging software? Wordpress? MT? I design and even do websites but designing blog pages is driving me nuts.
David
It's MT. The basic blog is really not that difficult, but I started messing with some things that are over my head. Also, this is the first complete overhaul since I moved from Blogger. That time, I just kept my old template and plugged in the MT stuff. Blogger is really easy to design in, because you can preview everything before publishing.

I like the new layout, and number one is my favorite.
Also, it seems to be displaying fine on Ubuntu w/ Firefox. It even seems to load faster than the old layout.
David
Faster loading was one of my goals.
On the font, I'm not asking which you like better, I'm asking which one your browser is displaying. I'm trying to avoid using many images, but I don't know if everyone has my preferred font (Viner hand ITC).

Dave,
I am seeing font 2 as the header; using firefox.

Hey Greg, nice to have you stop by.
I'm afraid that's going to be the consensus. Then I'll have to decide if I'm satisfied with that, or go to image headers.
Thanks
David
. . . and now I changed it again. Those who don't see the Viner font (#1) will see Times (#2) italic. Close enough for now.

Blessings for the New Year David to you and yours ... I see #1 font. I am finding that those who have the fonts in their word processing package view the fonts as intended. I have Viner ITC in MS Word therefore that is what I see in IE, Avant and Firefox. I really like the theme. Nice job. You could offer a link to download the font ...
David
Thanks, Pam, and to you also. What are you doing reading blogs on New Years Eve, anyway? You should be making merry!
I suppose I could offer a download link, but first I'd have to find one. I only have it because it came with my system. I don't know if I could legally offer it directly from my site for free.
I've got enough to do right now, like figuring out why "Remember personal info?" doesn't work now. Aargh!

OK, here's a link for the Viner font. At $24, I don't expect many takers.

Thirsty Dave,
Great new look. I know I'm almost a month late in saying this. I checked it out in IE 7 and it actually looks just fine. There are just a few minor things about the drop down menus, but most of those work perfect too.
The reason I commented though, was to ask where did the key go for interpreting the different color dots on your links? That would be nice to put somewhere easily accessible.
Other than that, the new look is just fantastic. And got to love the Augustine background.
Blessings,
Bob
David
Thanks, Bob. I did finally figure out how to make the menus work in IE. It makes them a little less nice in Firefox, but I suppose I have to compromise.
I actually took the color key down a long time ago. I think I'll leave it down, but since you asked, red, green, & blue are all Calvinists. Red & green are credobaptist. Reds all have something in common that you can figure out if you do a little digging. Non-colored links do not necessarily mean anything. It may just mean that the colors are irrelevant to their purpose, or that I don't know where to put them.
