In Preparation for the Lord’s Day: O That Will Be Glory

These hymns and gospel songs are chosen, in most cases, weeks in advance. There is no special method to it, I just leaf through the current book and pull the good from among the bad and ugly. That method makes no accommodation for the church calendar—although I’ve found myself providentially in sync on a few occasions—so when this gospel song came up the day before Christmas Eve, I thought I would probably make a switch. Then I thought about the timing of R. C. Sproul’s death and changed my mind. Dr. Sproul is now experiencing this picture, with words no songwriter could ever dream. He is now, and for eternity, having his best Christmas ever. This is what Christmas is all about. Have you lost any saints recently? Think of them, as well.

O That Will Be Glory

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18

image

When all my labors and trials are o’er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore
Will through the ages be glory for me.

Refrain
O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.

When, by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in Heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain

Friends will be there I have loved long ago;
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet, just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
Refrain

The Hymnal for Worship & Celebration (Word Music).
